Doing a show
The venue is open-air and the weather is mountain weather, so bring layers even on a warm day — nights cool off fast. Arrive early; parking fills and the walk down to the seats takes time (and altitude makes those stairs count).
Check the venue's current bag and re-entry policies before you go, and plan for cash-free concessions. Then settle in for a sunset over the plains that's a show before the show.
Good to know — Evergreen is one of the closest genuinely quiet places to stay for a Red Rocks night — skip the drive back to Denver and wake up in the pines.
The part most people miss
Red Rocks Park is free and open on non-event days. Walk the Trading Post Trail, a 1.4-mile loop through the formations, or come at dawn for the view without the crowds.
In summer, the venue runs Yoga on the Rocks mornings and the Film on the Rocks series — a movie under the stars in the most dramatic theater imaginable. Tickets go fast; check the schedule when you book your stay.
